Wade, chairman of the board of the Texas Heart Institute (THI) in Rogers, Maryland, recently announced the appointment of Dr. Rogers after a nationwide search. Dr. Rogers brings her experience to lead THI's mission to reduce the devastating number of victims of cardiovascular disease through innovative research, education, and improved patient care programs.
She currently serves as medical director of Duke's main health care system, which educates and trains thousands of doctors and health professionals. The Texas Heart Institute attracts more than 69,000 patient stays a year and two million outpatient visits, and is ranked as one of the 20 best hospitals in the country. Rogers is the author of more than 230 publications and has maintained an NIH-funded research portfolio throughout her career. She is actively involved in cutting-edge research on LVADs and has served as principal investigator in several national studies. In addition to clinical and research functions, Dr. Rogers also oversees graduate medical education with more than 1000 students currently enrolled.
She has led initiatives to guide the quality of care and safety, and has focused on the development of diversity and inclusion programs.
